There is quite a bit to unpack here.  The premise of the law suit was that sellers were unfairly forced into paying the brokers and that the brokers were making way too much money.  (The lawyer who brought the case will be walking away with more than 80 million, FYI) In WA State a broker is a limited practice lawyer.  We are trained to manage a Purchase and Sale contract and everything that goes with it.  It is not in any way a simple process and the consequences of some mistakes can be enormous.

I am afraid, and others caution, that sellers might think it is to their advantage to not compensate a buyer broker and perhaps even sell on their own.  And I am not worried because I think I will lose money.  I know I bring value to a transaction.  My work will be fine.  I am worried that buyers and sellers, and buyers especially, will lose and may easily fall victem to a system that will disadvantage them greatly.
